Champions Senglea Gunners relegated to Second Division

Last year’s champions Senglea Gunners were relegated to the MAFA Second Division after losing the decisive match against San Gwann Pro Evolution Academy 2-1.

The Senglea side were very inconsistent during this season and were miles away from the team that won the championship last season.

For their part, San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy took advantage of the chances they had in order to emerge victorious from this encounter.

The Gunners went ahead through Moses Nwankwo in the 32nd minute so in the second half Georges Agbohoun entered in the fore and scored twice between the 45th and 55th minutes.

Referee: Lorry Sammut.

San Ġiljan Saints were given a 2-0 walk-over against Valletta Stars St Dominic. The latter already know that next season they will play in the second division after being relegated finishing in the last place in the table.

Attard Edex Kings took an important step towards promotion to the First Division after beating Bugibba Club de SWAT 2-0.

Edex Kings are now in second place in the table and with a victory on the last day, they will secure their place to play in the top flight next season.

Miguel Angel Acevedo put Attard in the lead on 26 minutes with Rajpal Singh doubling the score in the 53rd minute.

Referee: Darko Stankovic.

Mqabba Albions and Zebbug Youngsters cancelled each other out in a goalless draw. Both teams needed the win for different purposes with Mqabba fighting for promotion and with Zebbug wanting to get rid of relegation worries.

Despite all the attacks from both sides, no goals were scored.

Referee: Reno Galea.

Hamrun Amateurs were declared as champions of the MAFA Third Division when they beat Ħal Far Titans 2-0 in the direct clash. Both sides had already been promoted to the second division after having a very positive season.

The Amateurs made their intentions clear from the start and surged ahead after only six minutes from a penalty by Joyfred Farrugia.

In the second half, Hamrun continued to attack and scored the second goal through Hajy Semu Maher.

Referee: Ray Tabone.
