The players of Spain, led by Luis de la Fuente from the bench, are the second finalists of the League of Nations after a 2:1 victory over Italy. For the second time in a row, Spain reached the title match via Italy, and Rodri was overjoyed with his team’s performance.
“We had to play with tough rivals in order to reach the final. We had to beat Italy, which is one of the best teams in Europe and the world, so we have to celebrate. We have not achieved anything yet, but we are satisfied as a team. We are excited as a generation and now we have a chance to win the trophy in three days. We have to celebrate entering the final, but we know that there is another step ahead of us,’ said Rodri.
de la Fuente’s rival in the final will be the selection of Croatia, which after extra time was better than the Netherlands and defeated them 4:2.
The last time Spain and Croatia met was in the round of 16 of the European Championship two years ago, and then the Spaniards won 5:3 in extra time.
“We worked until late preparing our game. Now we will watch that duel, but we know what kind of team Croatia is. They play at a high level and are extremely technically sound. They have several players with a lot of experience. They reached the semi-finals of the World Cup twice and the Nations League final once. They are a very important team,’ said Luis de la Fuente.
