Lecce strengthened their position in the Serie A table with a 2-0 away win over Cagliari at the Unipol Domus Stadium, moving three points clear of the relegation zone.
Lecce travelled to Sardinia having scored six goals in 11 away league matches this season, the lowest total in Serie A. Despite that record, they secured their third away league victory of the campaign through second half goals from Omri Gandelman and Ylber Ramadani.
Cagliari created the first clear opportunity of the match. Leonardo Pavoletti headed over the bar from close range in the early stages. The home side continued to threaten, but Lecce began to find space on the counter attack.
Walid Cheddira saw an effort saved by Elia Caprile, while Riccardo Sottil sent a shot over the bar after possession was lost in defence. Cagliari also had chances to take the lead. Gabriele Zappa shot wide, and Ibrahim Sulemana headed over from a cross delivered by Pavoletti.

After the interval, Lecce increased their pressure. Cheddira directed a header towards the bottom corner, but Caprile made the save. The breakthrough came from a set piece. Sottil delivered the ball into the area and Omri Gandelman scored with a glancing header that beat the goalkeeper.
Cagliari did not find an equaliser, and Lecce extended their lead with just over 15 minutes remaining. Ylber Ramadani scored from distance, with the goal confirmed after a VAR review.
The result moves Lecce three points clear of 18th placed Fiorentina in the Serie A standings. The win also brings them closer to mid table Cagliari as the relegation battle continues.
