Real Madrid have criticised the plan to hold a LaLiga match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami. They say the idea could damage the fairness of the competition and have asked UEFA, FIFA, and Spain’s Higher Sports Council to step in.
The Spanish Football Federation approved the game, which is set for December 20 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. This would be the first time a LaLiga match is played outside Spain and the first European league match held in the United States.
Real Madrid said they strongly disagree with the plan and that they were not consulted before the decision was made. They argue that playing the match in Miami breaks the important rule that teams should have an equal number of home and away games.

The club also warned that this could give an unfair advantage to Barcelona and Villarreal and harm the integrity of the league. They believe that changes like this should only happen if every club agrees.
Before the match can go ahead, it still needs approval from UEFA, US Soccer, CONCACAF, and finally FIFA. LaLiga president Javier Tebas hopes to bring Spanish football to the US with this game.
