As the second oldest official Juventus supporters club in the world and the first in Malta, the milestone serves not only as a celebration of the past but also a call for renewal within the club’s wider identity. A highlight of the commemorations will be the visit of four iconic former Juventus players: Moreno Torricelli, Angelo Di Livio, Alessandro Birindelli and Nicola Legrottaglie. Their presence marks a rare and emotional moment for Maltese fans, many of whom have followed the club for decades. The festivities include a celebratory dinner on Friday, leading into the main event on Saturday afternoon, where members will gather at the club’s premises to meet the legends and honour key sponsors.
Club president Joseph Fenech, who has overseen the careful organisation of this landmark week, expressed pride in what the club has accomplished, despite the inevitable challenges involved in bringing such a celebration to life. “It’s a programme packed with emotions,” Fenech said, adding that he sees the event as a tribute to the club’s members, nearly 600 strong, whose loyalty has never wavered.
While Fenech acknowledged receiving an invitation from Juventus President Gianluca Ferrero for an event in Calabria, the club respectfully declined, choosing instead to host its own celebration in Malta closer to its members and its roots. “We would have preferred that the president himself, the sporting director, or even a player visit our club instead. That’s what would truly honour our members,” he stated.
But Fenech also used the occasion to share his hopes for the future of Juventus FC. In a frank reflection, he expressed a desire to see sweeping changes at the top of the club, calling for the return of individuals with deep ties to Juventus’ identity. “We need people who are really and truly Bianconeri who have played on the field, who know what the shirt means. I would like to see Antonio Conte back at Juventus. He knows how to get the job done.”
The visiting legends each carry their own piece of Juventus history. Moreno Torricelli’s rise from a carpenter to a Champions League winner epitomises the grit and heart that once defined the club. Angelo Di Livio, the tireless “Soldatino,” brought consistency and pride to the right flank for years.
