Malta Sport can confirm that 31-year-old Malta international Zach Muscat is set to sign for G.D. Chaves, a club in Portugal’s second tier, marking his return to Portuguese football after a short spell in Turkey with Şanlıurfaspor.
This move will see Muscat continue his career abroad, now entering his tenth season playing outside Malta.
His journey overseas began in the 2015/16 season with a move from Birkirkara FC to Italian side Akragas.
He later played for Arezzo and Pistoiese in Italy before moving to Portugal, where he featured for Olhanense, Casa Pia, and Farense.
After a brief period without a club, he joined Şanlıurfaspor in early 2025.
Now, he’s set to join Chaves and start a new chapter in Portugal.
