In the presence of Gabriele Gravina, the President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Luciano Spalletti discussed Italy’s debut in the UEFA Nations League at a press conference held at Parc des Princes.
Spalletti acknowledged the strength of the French team, stating that the upcoming match would present numerous challenges. He emphasized the importance of teamwork as Italy’s weapon against these difficulties.
Spalletti expressed his desire to see the same positive aspects he observed during training at Coverciano replicated in the game. Despite being aware of the obstacles they would face, he cautioned against underestimating France, describing them as a deceptive team that can trouble any opponent with their wide players and attackers.
The Italian national team coach also reflected on his own evolution, stating that understanding and learning from past experiences is crucial for personal growth. He stressed the significance of the players’ willingness to improve and highlighted his commitment to professionalism and continuous development in his role.

”Although one can always make mistakes, I have witnessed the determination of our football players to stand tall and not give in, despite having played a bad game against Switzerland. We must look to the future, and tomorrow night’s match is already written in the future. We have embarked on a new journey: so far, there has been this European Championship where we have focused on players who could provide us with significant help; now, I intend to bring something new to the table”
Spalletti then analyzed his transformation: “From what I’ve seen this week, the boys have the qualities to become top players. They need some experience, but they have the conviction and self-esteem to come and play a game in which we won’t be prisoners of others. Did Gigio say I’m calmer? If everyone else says it, then it must be true. Maybe before I was too much of a nuisance because I have always been calm and relaxed. I have always believed in my abilities to achieve results”
Italy will face France in the Parc des Princes on Friday night for the first match of Group 2 of League A of the UEFA Nations League.
