The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, is delighted with the Paris Saint-Germain player and the captain of the Argentine national team, Lionel Messi, and thinks that even without the World Cup title, he would be the best player of all time, British media reported.
A few days ago, Messi won the title at the World Cup in Qatar with the Argentina team. Argentina defeated France in the World Cup final after a better penalty shootout.
“I have said many times – for me, Messi is the best of all time. If Messi had not won the world title, there would be more stories about his influence on football. But nothing would change for me. I think about him now the same as before, this is just the crowning glory of his impressive career”, said the manager of Manchester City.
Guardiola coached Messi at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012.
“However, I understand people who watched Pele and Alfredo di Stefano, so they think differently. I also understand those who claim that Diego Armando Maradona is the best football player of all time. We are all a bit sentimental”, Guardiola concluded.
Tomorrow, Manchester City will play against Liverpool in the round of 16 of the English League Cup.
