Manchester United and Manchester City played out a quiet 0-0 draw, the first time a Manchester derby ended without a goal since December 2020.
United started well, with Rúben Dias picking up an early booking for a foul on Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes hitting his free-kick into the wall. City settled after that, with Phil Foden hitting the side netting and Omar Marmoush being denied by a good block from Harry Maguire.
Garnacho had a good chance for United after a great cross from Diogo Dalot, but he couldn’t decide whether to head or volley and missed the opportunity. Patrick Dorgu also failed to take advantage of a good cutback, firing wide after a well-worked move from Fernandes. The United captain later found Manuel Ugarte with a chipped pass, but his shot went just wide. At the other end, İlkay Gündoğan and Casemiro both had efforts that didn’t trouble the goalkeepers much.
In the second half, City almost took the lead early when Marmoush got in behind, but Noussair Mazraoui made a crucial tackle. Kevin De Bruyne had a low shot saved by Onana, and Dias had a scare when he slipped trying to defend a cross from Dorgu, but avoided handling the ball.

Onana had to make a couple of important saves from Marmoush and Ugarte, while at the other end, United nearly scored late on. Joshua Zirkzee’s shot was saved by Ederson, and the rebound from Mason Mount was blocked by Rico Lewis. Zirkzee had another effort stopped by Dias shortly after.
City stay unbeaten in four matches but missed a chance to move above Chelsea into fourth. United remain 13th in the table, with just two wins from their last six matches ahead of their Europa League quarter-final against Lyon on Thursday.
