Cody Gakpo is a new Liverpool player, who could pay the Dutch PSV 60 million euros for him, including all bonuses.
The latest signing of the English great was linked with fierce rivals Manchester United for months, but the “Reds” were faster and more specific.
Virgil Van Dijk, with whom Gakpo played at the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar, had a great influence on the Dutch footballer’s decision.
“I talked a lot with Liverpool footballer Virgil van Dijk. He told me that this is the right club for me. That Liverpool is a big club, but also a big family. I didn’t hesitate much. Everything happened quickly and I’m happy that it did. I will try to show everyone what I can do, as well as help the team achieve wonderful moments like in the previous few years”, said Gakpo.
And Jurgen Klopp is happy with the new player in his team.
“It’s impressive how much effort we put into this business, and Cody is great and you have to see a lot of him. He has experience, even though he is only 23 years old, he proved himself at the World Cup,” said the manager of Liverpool.
Gakpo has signed a contract with the English club until 2028, and he will wear the number 18 on his back, like Dirk Kuytg once did.
