Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will be leaving the club this summer after he and the team agreed it was the right time to move on.
The 24-year-old didn’t train with the rest of the team on Friday and was left out of the squad for their friendly match against Bayer Leverkusen. Newcastle are said to be interested in signing him, especially after missing out on Benjamin Sesko, who is joining Manchester United.
Chelsea have already signed two new strikers this summer, Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich, so a move works for both Jackson and the club.
Chelsea are hoping to get at least twice the £32 million they paid for Jackson in 2023 when they bought him from Villarreal. They believe he’s worth more than the £52 million Arsenal paid for Noni Madueke because Jackson has better stats for goals and assists.
If no club offers the amount Chelsea want, they plan to bring him back into the squad.
Another player, Christopher Nkunku, also missed the match. He may be moving too, but he’s also dealing with a minor injury and hasn’t been training fully.
Jackson has scored 30 goals and made 12 assists in 80 games during his two years at Chelsea. He signed a nine-year contract in September 2024, which runs until 2033.
