Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea was the hero of the penalty shootout in the semi-final of the FA Cup against Brighton.
The Spaniard did not save a single penalty, but during the match he was excellent and brought much-needed security to his team, and in the end, a fight for the trophy, as their city rival City is waiting for them in the final.
“It was a very intense match. Brighton plays extremely good football. I was ready as always, I tried to put pressure on the stoppers. The final is still far away, but it will be a great match against one of the best teams in Europe and the world,’ said de Gea, then added:
“We showed at home that we can play against them. One trophy, another final and a fight for the top four places in the league. It’s not enough, but it’s a big step forward compared to the previous season.’
United won the FA Cup trophy 12 times, the last time in 2016, while City was the best six times. “Citizens” have been waiting for this trophy since 2019. The final is on June 3 at Wembley.
