The team from London, Chelsea, drew against Manchester United last night at Stamford Bridge, and after the game, the home team made a statement after insults from the stands.
In the Premier League, since the start of the season, club captains have been wearing rainbow-colored ribbons, as part of the ‘OneLove’ campaign, which aims to eradicate discrimination against minorities, in this case, based on sexual orientation.
From the stands of Stamford Bridge, derogatory chants about this action could be heard throughout the match. This “provoked” the management of the club, which after the derby issued a press release in which it condemned such behavior of its supporters.
“Chelsea football club considers all types of discriminatory behavior unacceptable, therefore we condemn such chanting by individual fans, who were present in the stands of our stadium today. We are proud to support this campaign and wear rainbow captain’s armbands, as we aim to make this game equal for everyone. We try to educate, talk and motivate everyone to understand this, our players, fans and employees, as well as the whole society.
They also express the hope that there will be no similar cries in the future, at least not on Stamford Bridge.
