Argentina and Brazil looses to Colombia and Paraguay repectively

The eighth day of the qualification round for the final phase of the World Cup for teams within the South American Confederation took place with both Argentina and Brazil beaten.

At Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez, World Champions Argentina suffered their second loss from eight matches, while Colombia, with this victory, moved up to second place with 16 points compared to Argentina’s 18 points.

In the 25th minute, Yerson Mosquera put Colombia ahead by defeating Emiliano Martinez following a play by James Rodriguez. Argentina equalised in the 48th minute when Nicolas Gonzalez scored past Camilo Vargas.

The decisive goal for Colombia was scored by James Rodriguez from a penalty in the 60th minute.

Paraguay 1 Brazil 0

At Estadio Defensores del Chaco, Paraguay unexpectedly secured their second win from eight matches, moving up to seventh place. Conversely, Brazil faced another defeat, their fourth from eight matches, remaining in fifth place with 10 points.

The match-winning goal was scored by Diego Gomez in the 20th minute after he got the better of Alisson Becker.
