Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister Set to Miss Arsenal Clash, Out Until January

Liverpool’s midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, is expected to remain sidelined due to a knee injury, ruling him out until January, according to reports. The Argentine midfielder sustained the injury during the Premier League fixture against Sheffield United earlier this month, forcing an early withdrawal from the match.

Manager Jurgen Klopp described the injury as unfamiliar, mentioning that a Sheffield United player’s stud had “gone through the muscle and onto the bone.” Klopp expressed hope that a few days of rest might aid Mac Allister’s recovery, but recent reports suggest that he is likely to be out until at least January, missing the upcoming clash against Arsenal.

Assistant manager Pep Ljinders provided an update on Mac Allister’s progress, stating, “Alexis is progressing well, he doesn’t have pain anymore, which is a good thing. It was worse than we first thought, but he is progressing well, no pain. Let’s see if we can progress him.”

The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion, has been a regular in the starting lineup, making 15 starts and three substitute appearances in various competitions.

In addition to Mac Allister, Liverpool might also be without Ryan Gravenberch for the EFL Cup quarter-final against West Ham United. Although initially suspected to be a hamstring injury, Ljinders clarified that Gravenberch’s issue was related to fatigue, and the Dutchman is expected to return to training.

Comparatively, Gravenberch has enjoyed regular playing time under Klopp, with 11 starts and eight substitute appearances since his arrival from Bayern Munich. On another note, young talent Ben Doak is ruled out in the long term due to a serious knee injury suffered during a recent second-string fixture.
