UEFA President Alexander Ceferin said on the occasion of the stay of Kyllian Mbappe in Paris Saint-Germain and the allegations of the Spanish media that his contract is a violation of fair play that no one will dictate to his organization what to do.
Mbappe shocked Real supporters as well as Spanish journalists with the decision to “cool down” Madrid. That provoked reactions in Spain, where his contract worth almost 600 million euros is called scandalous. Ceferin, the first man of UEFA, believes that this is not a violation of financial fair play.
– UEFA has quite strict rules of financial fair play. Anyone who respects our rules is welcome to play in our competitions. Whoever doesn’t want to follow the rules, won’t even play – said Ceferin, and then continued:
– Neither Real nor anyone else will tell UEFA what to do. They are indignant from one point of view, but, as far as I know, Real’s offer was similar to PSG’s. I have said that many times and I will repeat, tell me one argument why a company from Qatar should not be the owner of the club.
Ceferin also pointed out that everyone who violates the rules of that organization will be punished.
– If you say that the clubs belong to the fans, what about the English clubs, they have owners from the USA, some from the Middle East, they have owners from England. So, the situation is exactly the same and I am really tired of these accusations without any concrete grounds. I want to know who broke the rules and if you break the rules, you will be punished – concluded Ceferin.
