AGUERO WAS SHOCKED TOO: I thought someone hacked Barcelona's accounts when Messi left

The whole world was shocked when it was revealed that Lionel Messi would be leaving Barcelona, including his close friend and teammate Kun Aguero, who thought it was a joke and that the Spanish club’s social media accounts were hacked at the time.

Aguero signed for Barcelona last June after his contract with Manchester City expired in the hope of playing alongside compatriot Lionel Messi. However, a few weeks later it was announced that Messi was leaving Camp Nou, which shocked Aguero.

Aguero played only five games for the Spanish club after that, as he had to end his career due to heart problems.

– When that situation happened with Leo, I thought that maybe someone had hacked Barcelona’s social media accounts. I thought it was a joke. I was with a friend, he looked at the news on his phone and said: ‘Impossible. Is this true?’ He showed me the announcement from Barcelona – Aguero told a Spanish portal, Gol reported.

– I said: ‘Ibai, friend, that’s impossible. I said that apparently the site had been hacked, that it was just a story from Barcelona, who would later announce that he was staying. I decided to wait, but hours passed and the announcement was still on the site. Then I realized that no one had hacked the account – Aguero added.

Barcelona were in a difficult situation and had to let Messi go as his contract did not fit the finances. After that, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he has a contract until June 2023.

In recent weeks, there has been speculation that Messi could return to Camp Nou next year.
