Christian Kist hit a nine-darter but lost his first-round match at the PDC World Championship to Madars Razma.
The Dutch player became the first to hit a perfect leg in the tournament since Michael Smith did it in the 2023 final against Michael van Gerwen.
Kist, the 2012 BDO world champion at Lakeside, earned £60,000 for his nine-darter, with the same amount also being donated to charity and given to a spectator at Alexandra Palace in London.
The 38-year-old’s brilliant finish won him the first set, but his Latvian opponent came back to win 3-2.
Darts is one of the few sports where perfection is measured – snooker has the 147 maximum break, golf has the hole-in-one, and darts has the nine-dart finish.

Kist hit two 180s to leave himself a 141 finish, which he completed with a double 12, delighting over 3,000 spectators.
Earlier, Jim Williams, who was the favourite against Paolo Nebrida, lost 3-2 in a thrilling match that lasted over an hour.
Nebrida took a surprise 2-1 lead, and Williams only went ahead for the first time in the opening leg of the deciding set. Despite looking set for victory, Williams missed five match darts.
