Tyson Fury’s head coach, SugarHill Steward, has suggested that John Fury, Tyson’s father, will not be in his son’s corner for the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday in Riyadh.
Fury, 36, is looking for revenge against Usyk, the WBO, WBA (Super), and IBF heavyweight champion, after losing their first fight by points last May. John Fury was in the corner for that fight, alongside Steward and Andy Lee.

At a press event on Wednesday, Steward confirmed that only he, Andy Lee, and the cutman would be in the corner for the rematch. This comes as a surprise to many, as there were calls for changes after the chaotic nature of Fury’s corner in their first fight, where his father and both trainers were giving instructions all at once.
Tyson Fury had previously said that he wasn’t sure if his father would be involved in this fight. His assistant coach, Lee, also said he didn’t know if John would be in the corner, while promoter Frank Warren had earlier suggested that John would be there.
In their previous encounter, John Fury was involved in an incident where he appeared to headbutt a member of Usyk’s team. He has not been seen in Riyadh this week.
