Everything is set for the start of the World Blackball Cup next Saturday, which will take place from 2 to 10 November at the Double Tree hotel in Bugibba.
A total of 18 countries will participate, involving 900 players with 81 teams.
Malta will compete in eight categories, which are:
- Men’s and women’s teams
- Seniors
- Grandmasters
- Masters
- Under-15 teams
- Under-18 teams
- Under-23 teams
The Malta men’s team will consist of Mevrick Zammit, Leon Azzopardi, Johan Attard, Ryan Pisani, Lydan Debono, Scott Muscat and Dejan Grech, with Clevion Micallef as coach.
The Malta women’s team will include Roberta Cutajar, Donna Bugeja, Lorna Micallef, Alexia Cassano, Ana Thomas and Amanda Mifsud. They will be led by Darren Micallef.
The Maltese seniors team will comprise Stephen Mangion, Clayton Castaldi, Clint Grima, Clint Azzopardi, Chris Tabone, Dione Tedesco and Kevin Schembri, managed by Malcolm Parnis.
The Malta Masters team will feature Ishmael Hatherly, Ivan Rizzo, Brian Grech, Antoine Aquilina, Jesmond Schembri, Christ Mills, Raymond Caruana and Marco Bonello.
The Malta Grandmasters team will include Teemor Mifsud, Marcel Micallef, Iro Vella, John Lombardo, Gaetano Camilleri, Joe Camilleri and Alfred Micallef.
The under-23 Malta team will consist of Matthias Debono, Liam Mifsud, Daniel Vella, Deacon Formosa, Clydon Attard and Casdy Vella, led by Glenn Axiaq.
The under-18 team will include Chaylon Castaldi, Denzel Falzon, Steven Muscat, Mason Mifsud, Nordai Desira and Zveyden Tabone, managed by Roderic Tanti.
The under-15 team will comprise Jake Castaldi, Nick Muscat, Dielyn Edwards and Shazen Ciantar, led by Alessio Magro.
This is the second time in a year that Malta is organising a major event, after hosting the European Championship exactly one year ago.
