Zalgiris raises questions about the future of the Euroleague

Lithuanian basketball club Zalgiris from Kaunas issued a statement in which the club asks questions about the current situation in the Euroleague after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to their official post on Facebook, Zalgiris organized a discussion with the European League Board to assess the situation and agree on further moves.

The message was published on the club’s Facebook page. “Zalgiris Kaunas does not ignore the events in Ukraine and is organizing a conversation with the leadership of the Euroleague in order to jointly assess the situation and agree on further actions,” it said.

“We are already discussing this issue with several European clubs, and we will all observe this situation at the league level.” A single league decision is necessary in this case.

The Euroleague held a meeting this morning to decide what to do with the matches of the three Russian teams that are facing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
