Virtus basketball players are the new champions of the Eurocup and participants in the Euroleague next season, as they beat the Bursa team in the grand final at home, with a score of 80:67.
Bursa was considered an absolute sensation in the Eurocup, and for good reason, especially from the moment when they beat Partizan in the crowded Belgrade “Pionir”. After that, Cedevita Olimpija and Andorra also fell, but not Virtus. Dusan Alimpijevic and his “pit bulls” were stopped in Bologna.
And one of those who played the main role in that is the captain of the Serbian national team. Milos Teodosic was the most efficient in Virtus with 21 points and three assists, with excellent percentages in the shot from the game (4/4 for two, 4/8 for three points).
Already at the very start of the match, Virtus reached the advantage through Milos Teodosic. The question was whether the Serbian playmaker will play in the final, since he recently suffered a minor injury, but “Teo” gritted his teeth and was one of the key players in tonight’s final.
Bursa did not serve a shot, while Belinelli also played in the Virtus team, who scored a three in the finish of the first section and gave his team a solid advantage of 25:12. We watched a similar game in the second quarter, Teodosic was not on the floor for a long time, but Alimpijevic’s company did not have a solution for the fantastic Belinelli.
Already in this period of the game, Needham, who is one of the most important players of the Turkish team, made the third personal foul and put Alimpijevic in an awkward position. Virtus had a slight drop in the game, it seemed that Bursa could catch the connection again, but it did not succeed.
And in the continuation of the match, we saw the same picture – Bursa caught the momentum and reduced the gap, but Virtus easily stopped it. Teodosic played again, interrupting the series of guests with his points.
At the beginning of the last period, Bursa was only five points behind, we watched an uncertain ending, but then Milos Teodosic started working again. He forced Alimpijevic to a new time-out, but there was no time for a pre-rocket.
It was Teodosic’s points that solved the question of the winner, the Turkish team really didn’t have more time, although the players didn’t give up until the last moment.
