Vassilis Spanoulis, the legendary Greek basketball player, will be named the newest basketball legend of the Euroleague on Wednesday, when Olympiacos plays the first game of the playoffs.
Spanoulis, the three-time European champion, Final Four MVP, and player of the decade in the Euroleague, was voted the best Euroleague team eight times.
In front of the sea of his red-and-white fans when Olympiacos hosts Monaco in the first game of the Euroleague playoffs, in the “Peace and Friendship” hall.
The legend of Greek basketball becomes the eighth player to win the highest medal in the Euroleague, after Theo Papaloukas, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ramunas Shiskauskas, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Dimitris Diamantidis, Mirsad Turkcan, and Felipe Reyes. The late Duan Ivkovi, one of Vasilis’ coaches at Olympiacos, was also proclaimed a basketball legend of the Euroleague.
