The latest accolades in Maltese basketball have been awarded for January 2025.

Hibernians’ versatile import, Tederick Wolf, has secured the individual award for the BOV Basketball First Division. Standing at 6’5, Wolf has made an immediate impact since joining Hibernians at the start of the season, having previously played for Mellieħa. His remarkable efficiency on the court is highlighted by an impressive 74% field goal success rate, averaging 26.33 points per game. His scoring ability and consistency have been instrumental in Hibernians’ strong performances.

Luxol’s American guard, Brandi Huffhines, has been named BOV Basketball Player of the Month in the women’s category. Hailing from Rio Linda, California, Huffhines is making an impressive mark in her first professional season outside the United States. Her exceptional accuracy from long range has been a standout feature of her game, as she successfully converted 24 three-pointers from 41 attempts, boasting an outstanding 59% success rate. In just four games, she accumulated a total of 103 points, solidifying her reputation as a key player for Luxol.

Basketball

Starlites’ Luke Attard was the top performer in the BOV Amateur League, playing a crucial role in his team’s unbeaten run during January. Throughout three matches, Attard contributed 52 points, along with 9 rebounds and 3 assists, showcasing his all-around capabilities on the court. His performances have been instrumental in maintaining Starlites’ dominant position in the league.

The custom-made BOV Basketball Player of the Month trophies were presented to the three outstanding athletes by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at the Bank of Valletta. This award, a collaboration between the Bank of Valletta and the Malta Basketball Association, aims to promote excellence in sports while upholding ethical and responsible sporting values.

As the season progresses, these players will look to build on their impressive performances, continuing to make an impact in Maltese basketball.
