THE DEAL IS ON: Kevin Durant stays with the Nets!

American basketball player Kevin Durant will stay with the Brooklyn Nets next season, according to the NBA team’s official statement.

Durant met with Brooklyn coach Steve Nash, general manager Sean Marks and franchise owner Joe Tsai, and that resulted in the team’s first star staying for the next season.

Boston has long been touted as the most likely destination for KD, where he has almost been spotted in Massachusetts. The Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat were also mentioned, and even our Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets. Apparently nothing will come of it.

The Celtics also had a specific offer in late July when they wanted to trade Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick.

Durant was on the verge of leaving at one point, having requested a trade after a meeting with management. Instead of the breakup of the Nets, we ended up with the two best players remaining, since Kyrie Irving also remained in the club.

At one point, KD withdrew the trade request but demanded that Nash and Marks resign, but in the end, they would still work together.

We will see what else will happen, maybe this is not the definitive end of the saga.
