STOP FOR JACOBS: The Olympic and European champion does not perform in the Diamond League finals!

The organizers of the finals of the athletics Diamond League in Zurich announced that the current Olympic and European champion in 100 meters, Marcel Jacobs, will not receive an invitation to participate in that competition.

Jacobs previously said he requested an invitation to the Diamond League Finals, which takes place on September 8, to compete against America’s top sprinters.

The Italian was injured several times this year and did not participate in any of the six 100m races in the Diamond League, which prevented him from scoring points and qualifying for the final in Zurich.

– There is no other way to come, no one can be invited without being qualified, except for a few local athletes – the co-director of the event, Andreas Hediger, specified in an email to AFP.

The organizers state that the same case would have been the case with the Norwegian Carsten Warholm (Olympic and European champion and world record holder in the 400-meter hurdles), if he wanted to compete in the 400-meter race.

Like Jacobs, Warholm suffered a hamstring injury in June, and only participated in the World and European Championships.

The winner of the final in each athletic discipline is awarded a trophy and an amount of 30,000 dollars.
