Mark Herrera, Josann Attard Pulis in fine form at Hudson 10k Race Series –Maqluba Edition. Shaun Galea, Rosalie Borg Cauchi take 5km Race Honours

The second race of the Hudson Race Series took place in Maqluba on Sunday
morning. A challenging yet highly sought-after event. Despite the demanding nature of this course,
characterised by steep hills the race has since its inception consistently attracted a strong crowd,
making it a sell-out success each year. Athletes participating in the Hudson Race Series have the
option to tackle either a 5km or 10km course. This flexibility caters to a diverse range of participants,
from seasoned runners to those seeking a shorter challenge. Regardless of the distance chosen, both
routes attract some of Malta’s strongest athletes, setting the stage for intense competition.
10km Race
Mark Herrera was in fine form on Sunday morning, leading the pack from the start of the race, he
completed the hilly two 5km loop in 34:51, keeping a safe distance from second placed Leon Chetcuti
who crossed the finish line in 37:43. Joining the duo on the podium was Reuben Balzan who
completed the route in 38:11.
Meanwhile Josann Attard Pulis, also produced a strong result leading the females’ race and crossing
the finish line in 41:31. Second placed Rebecca Galea clocked a time of 45:49, whilst Jessica Vella
completed the podium with a finish time of 48:51.
5km Race
Shaun Galea delivered another impressive performance over this distance, clocking a time of 16:03,
ahead of Darran Agius who finished in 17:11, just a few seconds ahead of Charles Micallef (17:23).
Similarly, Rosalie Borg Cauchi, gave a determined performance to finish in first place in a time of
18:57 ahead of Charyl Fava who finished in 20:09. Gaby Mangion finished in third place with a time of
21:45.
Trophies to the Overall and Age Group winners were presented by Race Director Charlie Demanuele.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to Hudson for supporting the series, Transport Malta,
Qrendi and Zurrieq Local Councils, Medical team and Race Officials.
The third race of the Hudson Race Series will take place in Dingli, on Sunday 16th June.
