FIFA has announced that more than 1.5 million applications for the Visa Presale Draw have been submitted within just 24 hours of opening. Fans from 210 countries have entered the draw for the chance to attend the FIFA World Cup 26™, which will be held across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The highest number of applications so far have come from residents of the host nations, the United States, Mexico and Canada, followed by fans from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, England, Spain, Portugal and Germany.
Heimo Schirgi, Chief Operating Officer of FIFA World Cup 26, said the large number of entries reflects the global excitement surrounding the tournament and the historic nature of the event.
The Visa Presale Draw is the first stage of ticket sales and offers fans their first opportunity to secure seats for what is being described as the biggest FIFA World Cup yet. Fans can apply at any point before 11 am ET (17:00 CET) on 19 September. The timing of an application during the entry window does not affect the chances of being selected.
Following a random selection process, successful applicants will be informed by email from 29 September. They will be given a specific date and time slot to buy tickets, with the first sales window opening on 1 October. Ticket prices for group stage matches start from just USD 60. All 104 matches will be available, including venue-specific and team-specific options.
Further ticket sales phases are planned to begin in October. More information is available at FIFA.com/tickets.
In the meantime, fans can already purchase official hospitality packages, which include match tickets, via FIFA.com/hospitality. FIFA reminds fans to buy only through official channels to avoid invalid tickets.
The Visa Presale Draw is open to fans aged 18 and over. No purchase is necessary to enter or win, and full terms and conditions are available on the official FIFA website.
