A thrilling week of action in the BOV Youth League saw high drama and crucial results, as title races in Sections A and B reached boiling point. With Leagues C and D already concluded, all eyes were on the ongoing battles at the top — and bottom — of the divisions.
Section A – Naxxar Claim Late Win, Valletta Slip
Naxxar Lions took a massive step toward the Youth League A title with a 5-2 comeback win over Mosta. Trailing 1-0 at half-time, Naxxar turned the match around through goals from Olalekan Opajobi (2), Jhanluis Hernandez Leal, and Owen Portelli. The win puts them four points clear of title rivals Valletta, who were held to a 3-3 draw by Birkirkara. Valletta missed a golden opportunity to stay close, failing to convert a last-minute penalty that would have secured victory.
Meanwhile, in the Bottom Six, St Andrews defeated Hibernians 2-0, thanks to second-half goals by Timothy Cassar Torreggiani and Ethan Brincat Winters. The loss leaves Hibs just two points above relegation with a crucial clash against Balzan looming on Monday.
Section B – Fgura Dominate, Swieqi Stumble
In Section B, Fgura United bounced back from a previous defeat to Swieqi with a dominant 4-0 win over Żebbuġ Rangers. Goals from Isaiah Micallef, Miguel Zammit, and a brace from Innocent John Awori propelled Fgura closer to the league title.
Their title bid was boosted further when Swieqi United were held to a 1-1 draw by Sliema Wanderers. Despite a penalty conversion by Neil Apap, Swieqi could not find a winner after Nicholas Strickland had given Sliema an early lead.
