LAMPARD: "Miracles" can happen in London

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard expressed his impressions after the 2:0 defeat by Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

Chelsea played the second part of the match at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium without Ben Chilwell, who was sent off due to a red card.

Lampard is aware that his team must do much better if they want to make up for the loss from Madrid and advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“I am proud of the ten people who remained on the field at that time. They were great. They didn’t manage to open us up. What is disappointing is that we still allowed them a moment of inattention and conceded the second goal. It’s a real shame. At least if we had scored one goal, and there were chances – Joao Felix, Rahim Sterling, Mason Mount,” said Lampard after the match.

He believes that “miracles” can happen in London.

“The result is reality but there were also good moves. Special things can happen at Stamford Bridge. We have to believe. We are as good a team as they are. You just need a little more confidence and self-belief. The players don’t know how good they are.”

The Chelsea coach announces a big fight in the second leg on Tuesday, April 18.

“Yes, it will be a big fight next week. We have to be more positive and believe. If anyone knows, I’m one of those… I took part in those nights at Stamford Bridge, we’ll try…”, concluded Lampard.
