Ħamrun Spartans are the winners of the BOV Super Cup 2023/2024. The 2022/2023 BOV Premier League Champions beat last year’s Izibet Trophy winners Birkirkara 4-0 to lift the coveted trophy. The Spartans managed to win the final in supreme style with a ‘poker’ that will be long be remembered.
Jonny was Ħamrun’s hero, sealing the victory with a hat-trick. He opened the score in the 11th minute with a shot from inside the area and doubled up in the 31st minute. His third was a solo run from the right and beat the keeper with a tight diagonal shot. Ederson closed off the game with Ħamrun’s fourth in the 90th minute.
With this win, Ħamrun have now won this trophy for the 6th time. The first ever Super Cup was held in 1984, and Ħamrun had last lifted the trophy in 1992 after a 2-0 win over Valletta.
