Mats Wilander, a former Swedish tennis player and now a commentator, also spoke about Novak Djokovic on the current topic.
The Swede believes that Novak was not affected much by not playing in Masters tournaments in America, because now he has a much better chance of winning the second Grand Slam of the season.
“Djokovic plays the game of percentages. In the sense that he knows that his longevity will allow him to win two to five more Grand Slam trophies. The numbers say it: from his first Australian Open win to today, he has won between 1.3 and 1.4 Grand Slam cups per year. So, if he stays healthy and fit, he will have a great chance to win a few more big trophies in the coming period,” began Wilander.
Mats points out that Djokovic can win all four Grand Slams.
“Whether it will be at Wimbledon, Roland Garros or the US Open, it doesn’t matter, Djokovic knows that he only has a chance if he stays healthy. And longevity means it sends a message to rivals: ‘Hey guys, I’m not old, I feel young’. He looks young and will win the biggest tournaments as long as he stays healthy. He will take at least one Grand Slam trophy a year while playing. I think that is exactly the message he is sending us”, explained Mats Wilander.
