THIEM: Djokovic has the best backhand and return

Dominic Thiem talked about the shots of all the players from the “big three”.

When it comes to Novak Djokovic, he pointed out the following:

Djokovic has the best backhand and return. The best way to understand how good his backhand is is to face him. He always has an answer ready for anything you put your mind to. Sometimes it seems like he is playing with you. I connected great shots against him a lot of times, but he always found a way to get rid of them. There are not many tennis players who are capable of that. “He doesn’t just return the serve to the field, he makes you play the next shot from a very complicated situation,” Thiem began.

When it comes to the forehand, he had no qualms about highlighting the best.

“Rafael Nadal is the best. Maybe it’s not always the most obvious, because his whole game is incredible, but he has a very impressive forehand, especially on clay. This is where he does the most damage. In recent years, his forehand has been the best and that’s why I choose him.”

While for Roger Federer, he listed several shots.

“His slice is incredible. I remember our first match, on grass. The first time he played a slice, it was a terrible experience for me. Roger is also a very intelligent player in exchanges, he always chooses the best solution. I loved watching him play volleys, he always sent the balls in a spectacular way, it was really beautiful to watch him use this shot. I would put Roger first when it comes to feeling. There is nothing to add, nobody is like him”, said Thiem.
