Iga Swiatek continued her dominant run at Indian Wells with a ruthless 6-2, 6-0 dismantling of Karolina Muchova, winning the last ten games to end the Czech’s eight match winning streak that had included a title in Doha last month. The world number two, a two time champion in the desert, will next face either Elina Svitolina or Katerina Siniakova in the quarterfinals.

Fifth seed Jessica Pegula also progressed, edging out Belinda Bencic 6-3, 7-6 in a match that proved far trickier than expected. Pegula served for the match at 5-4 in the second set only to be broken, before eventually claiming victory in a tiebreak on her third match point. She will face either Elena Rybakina or Sonay Kartal next.
