Andrey Rublev, the Russian tennis player, and seventh seed, secured a comfortable victory in the first round of Wimbledon.

He defeated Australian player Max Purcell in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, to advance to the second round of the prestigious tournament.

Rublev started strong, comfortably winning the first set. However, he faced some resistance in the second set when he found himself trailing 5-2. Nonetheless, he displayed resilience and fought back, winning the next five games to take a 2-0 lead in sets.

In the third set, Rublev faced less resistance from his Australian opponent, making the job much easier for him to close out the match.

In the next round, Rublev will face the winner of the match between Luka Van Assche and Aslan Karatsev, as he continues his Wimbledon campaign.
