DJOKOVIC ANALYZED THE MATCH WITH KHACHANOV: I didn't feel the best, but I kept pace!

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic spoke after his victory over Karen Khachanov and reaching the quarterfinals of the Masters in Paris.

In the round of 16, Djokovic defeated Hačanov 2-0 in sets, 6:4, 6:1, but he had a lot of swings in the first set.

  • The first set was even, I had my chances to break. I didn’t feel the best physically for some reason, but I kept the pace from the baseline. He maintained himself and I managed to break in the tenth game. After that, the momentum shifted to my side and I am very satisfied with how I ended the match – said the Serbian tennis player.

This was Novak’s eighth victory against the Russian tennis player in nine matches, and his only defeat was in Paris – in 2018 final.

  • It’s always about that – to do the job and win the match. Khachanov is someone I know well, we train a lot and have played almost ten times on various surfaces. We played four years ago in the final when he won me the only time, so I knew that he likes this surface and that he likes these conditions – said Djokovic.

On Friday, the quarter-finals will follow, and the opponent is the Italian Lorenzo Musetti.

– We’re not playing at Roland Garros now, so it’s definitely different. He won his first title a few weeks ago and has improved on concrete. He had some big wins this week as well. He doesn’t like this surface too much, he likes clay, he’s talented and has everything in his game, he can attack, he defends well, but I know his game well and I’m looking forward to the challenge – concluded Novak.
