For a month now, there has been a controversy over coronavirus vaccination and the participation of tennis players at the Australian Open.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that unvaccinated tennis players must undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Of course, if they want to play in the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament.
“The same rules apply to everyone, whether it’s a Grand Slam winner, a prime minister, a business traveler, a student – or anyone else,” Morrison said.
The number one tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, refused to reveal whether he was vaccinated and said that he might not play in the tournament, because the situation is “as it is”.
Of course, criticism and accusations are coming from all sides. Especially from Australia, but also from all over Britain.
Because, how else to call the title of the famous Australian media “Australian”, that says: “Is Djokovic worth threatening AusOpen?”.
In all this, someone who is completely rational and who stood by Novak finally appeared.
The text, which sharply criticizes the possibility that unvaccinated tennis players may be allowed to compete at the upcoming Grand Slam, chose the most successful Serbian athlete as its target.
And then the deal came.
One of those who did it publicly was the legend of tennis there, former director of the Australian Open Paul McNamee.
“I apologize on behalf of my country,” McNamee wrote.
Novak Djokovic has been criticized many times, often openly attacked in the media, and Paul McNamee has regularly raised his voice in Nole’s defense.
- It is sad that they are doing to Djokovic. It is unbelievable that the world number one is practically forbidden to fight for the rights of tennis players – McNami said then, so even now he has stood in his defense.
