Nadal after retirement: I am very sad, I made a difficult decision

However, Rafael Nadal suffered a serious injury in the match against Taylor Fritz, so he decided to hand over the match to Nick Kyrgios.

With this withdrawal, Nick will advance directly to the Wimbledon finals.

-” Unfortunately, as you can imagine, I’m here because I’m withdrawing from the tournament. I was struggling with abdominal pain, I accepted it yesterday, it was confirmed that I have a muscle tear, the communication was delayed because I was thinking all day about what decision to make. I think it’s time to retire, I’ve often been in difficult moments,” Nadal began and continued:

-” There is no point in me continuing to play, I can only make the condition worse.” -said Nadal.

-” I don’t think I can win two matches under these circumstances. I can’t perform normal movements, I imagined myself winning two matches, in a way, out of respect for myself, I didn’t want to go out to play without being competitive enough, that I can’t play as I want. The foot injury is better now, the most important thing for me is happiness, more important than any title. I can’t risk that match to stay out of the competition for three or four matches. What happens will happen, it’s my decision and I have to live with it. I am very sad, I made a difficult decision.”
