HISTORY IN LONDON: Tiafoe brought the World team their first victory over the Europeans!

The American tennis player Francis Tiafoe defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas tonight in London with 1:6, 7:6, 10:8, thus bringing victory to the World Team against the European Team at the Laver Cup. Team World won with a total score of 13:8!

Tiafoe, 19th on the ATP list, defeated the world’s sixth-ranked tennis player after an hour and 48 minutes of play.

Tsitsipas was convincing in the first set and took the lead with breaks in the fourth and sixth games.

In the second set, both players were confident on their serve, so the winner was decided in a tie-break, in which Tiafoe won 13:11 after four saved match points.

The American used the third match point in the decisive set, and brought victory to Team World at this year’s Laver Cup.

Earlier today, the Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic was defeated by the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime with 0:2, while the Canadian paired with the American Jack Sock defeated the Italian-British pair Matteo Berretini and Andy Murray with 2:1.
