DOMINIC THIEM: Slams are what counts

Dominic Thiem, the former number one, wants to return to his former form as soon as possible.

The team played at this year’s Australian Open, where it ended the competition immediately in the first round, but did not lose hope that it will be better in the rest of the season.

There are many different views and conclusions about who the GOAT is, however, Thiem was clear.

“In my opinion, Grand Slam titles should be the main criterion when deciding who is the best of all time. You have the four most important tournaments in tennis. Everything else is nice, but not the same. Slams are what count, so GOAT should probably be the one with the most grand slams,” said Thiem.

If you look at it that way, then it is clear that Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are the best, because they each have 22 Grand Slam titles.

He recalled the duel with Novak and Nadal.

“In the final of the Australian Open in 2020, I reached the highest level of possibilities, both physically and in terms of tennis. Even so, I lost in five sets to Novak. Practically, we couldn’t have played better, and I lost. That says it all. With Rafa in Paris 2019, I also played well, not as well as in Australia, but my level was high”, concluded Dominic.
