Djokovic Eyes 11th Melbourne Semifinal After Fritz Triumph, Anticipates Sinner vs. Rublev Clash

Novak Djokovic took a moment to assess his potential challengers, securing his 11th semifinal spot at the Melbourne tournament by defeating Taylor Fritz in four sets.

In the upcoming battle for a spot in the final, Djokovic anticipates facing the victor between Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev, acknowledging the challenge each presents. “The showdown with Sinner, towards the end of last year, was a different ball game. Both are in stellar form. I closely followed Rublev’s match with De Minaur – lightning-fast exchanges, fantastic tennis. Sinner is delivering the tennis of his life; our past encounters have been intense with 7:5, 7:6 scorelines. I expect a high-level performance. So, Nick, grab some popcorn, and let’s enjoy the spectacle,” Djokovic remarked.

Reflecting on his match against Taylor Fritz, Djokovic acknowledged the struggle against Fritz’s formidable serve. “Taylor boasts one of the best serves. I witnessed his exceptional serving against Tsitsipas. The break point conversion wasn’t great, 4/21, but I managed to capitalize when necessary. I elevated my game, especially in the middle of the third set, serving exceptionally well. Surprisingly, I even had more aces than him, which is commendable in a match of this intensity,” shared Novak Djokovic
