Djokovic: I lost focus, but this is a good start

Novak Djokovic defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic and advanced to the second round of Roland Garros – 3:0 (6:3, 6:2, 7:6 (7:1)).

The Serbian ace expressed his impressions after the victory at the start of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris.

“It is a pleasure to play at Roland Garros, there are always a lot of emotions here and I am very motivated to go all the way. Congratulations to Kovacevic for the battle he showed today, he played really well,” said Novak and added:

“Today was difficult playing conditions, I had to be concentrated because the wind changed the direction of the ball, but I am satisfied”.

The tennis player of Serbian roots offered solid resistance to Novak in the third set, but it was too late.

“There were no problems in the first two sets, and then I started to miss opportunities, I lost a little focus in the third set. He has also raised the level of his game, and when an opponent shows that level at a Grand Slam, you just have to deserve to win. That’s how it was in the end.”

Novak recalled his start at Roland Garros in 2013, when he won the entire tournament.

“Physically, I feel different compared to 10 years ago, but this is a good start for me,” said Novak Djokovic after winning the first round.
