Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez admitted that the Catalan club is working on the return of Lionel Messi.
After a turbulent debut season on the Barcelona bench, Xavi returned the Blaugrana to the status of Spanish champion in the following season.
The Catalan giant is still in the phase of reconstruction and recovery, but there is a good atmosphere at Camp Nou again and there is hope that Barcelona will find itself at the very top of European football.
One of the first steps towards getting out of the crisis was the departure of Lionel Messi because then Barca simply could not afford the services of the Argentine.
Two years later, Barcelona is breathing heavily again, Messi is looking for a way out of PSG, and Xavi has admitted that his return to the Catalan team is on the cards.
“I told the president that Messi’s return makes sense. I have no doubt that he is perfect for our system and idea. I have a tactical plan for Leo,” said Xavi and added:
“It is up to him (Messi). He has to decide, but I talk to him, yes,” said Xavi.
With Barcelona, Messi won four Champions Leagues, 10 La Liga titles, and seven Spanish Cups. In 778 games for that team, he scored 672 goals and recorded 303 assists.
