Little by little, Danil Medvedev threatened Novak Djokovic by overthrowing him from the top of the ATP list. What’s more, the Russian managed to enroll for three weeks at the top of the tennis caravan, but in the following period, the Serb will have no reason to worry.
Namely, Medvedev officially confirmed today that he will have to go for hernia surgery and that we will not see him on the tennis courts for the next two months!
– Regards to all. In recent months, I have been playing with a small hernia. Today, through an agreement with my team, I decided to go for an easier operation to solve this problem. I will most likely be absent from the field for a month or two, and I will work hard to return as soon as possible – Medvedev wrote.
This means that the Russian tennis player will miss the entire season of the tournament on clay like the Masters in Rome, Monte Carlo, and Madrid, concluding with the second Grand Slam of the season at Roland Garros.
True, Medvedev was never even known as a slag man, and he himself repeatedly pointed out that he hated that surface and that he often felt dirty after playing on it.
On the other hand, maybe the slag was an ideal opportunity to attack the first place because it does not defend a large number of points in those tournaments.
In any case, it is certain that Djokovic will surely be at the top of the ATP list for some time to come. What additionally benefits our tennis players is that there will be no other great competitor than Rafael Nadal in Monte Carlo.
The Spaniard is also suffering an injury and the big question is when he will return to the field. Therefore, Djokovic will not have to worry about first place on the world list in the next period.
