Last weekend, the Mallorca Major table football tournament took place, with Malta and Valletta Subbuteo Club enjoying great success.
Valletta Subbuteo Club claimed victory in the team category, continuing their impressive season. The Belt side defeated Murcia 2-1 in the semi-finals to set up an all-Maltese final against Bormla, where they secured a dominant 3-0 win. The victorious Valletta team featured Jurgen Balzan, Samuel Bartolo, Derek Conti, and Mark Gauci.
In the Open category, Samuel Bartolo reached the semi-finals before being narrowly eliminated 1-0 by eventual winner Carlos Flores. Mark Gauci advanced to the quarter-finals, while Jurgen Balzan and George Ebejer made it to the last 16.
In the Veterans category, Jason Pisani also reached the semi-finals but was knocked out by eventual winner John Field after a penalty shootout.
The participation of Maltese athletes in international competitions continues to be made possible thanks to the support of SportMalta and the Malta Olympic Committee.
