Malta enjoyed an excellent weekend at the Bologna Major table football tournament, with two Maltese players clinching titles in their respective categories.
Charlie Aquilina triumphed in the Veterans category, defeating Italy’s Patrizio Lazzaretti 2–1 in a closely contested final. Jason Pisani reached the quarter-finals, while Joseph Mifsud advanced to the last 16. Massimo Cremona made it to the last 32, whereas John Zammit, Stanley Farrugia Randon, and Patrick Pace were eliminated in the group stages.
Meanwhile, Robert Farrugia Randon claimed the Under-16 title with a commanding 3–1 victory over Angelo Bisio in the final.
In the Open category, George Ebejer reached the quarter-finals, and Mark Gauci progressed to the last 32. Spencer Conti and Mario Fleri Soler exited in the group stages.
In the team event, Bormla SC reached the quarter-finals, while Ħ’Attard SC were knocked out during the group phase.
