French rugby players accused of rape in Argentina

A court in Argentina freed two French rugby players who were held on sexual abuse charges. However, they must stay in the country until the trial ends, lawyers stated.

The prosecutor handling the case said there’s not enough proof to keep the players in custody for now.

Yet, the French players can’t leave Argentina as the case is still open, and their passports will remain confiscated.

French rugby team members Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou were arrested during a South American tour in July after sexual assault claims were made.

The players have rejected the claims, saying the sexual encounter was agreed upon by both parties.
