Top Maltese swimmer Sasha Gatt is looking forward to do one better on her performance in Tokyo this time in Paris.
“From the beginning of January, I was in Romania carrying out very intensive training and I’m now looking forward to this challenge in Paris”
Asked how she felt to be competing in the Olympics for a second time, Gatt said that this was an immense honour adding that newcomers should also let the experiece sink in.
“The first time round, I was still 16 but now I’m bit more mature. As advice to other athletes competing for the first time, I would say be yourself and don’t put too much pressure on yourself”.
On her part, Gatt, one of Malta’s youngest Olympians at the Tokyo Games in 2021, will compete in the 1,500m freestyle heats on July 30.
At thirteen, Gatt set a national short course record in the 800m freestyle in Germany. Gatt’s consistent performances earned her the highest FINA points, making her Malta’s top-ranked female swimmer.
