Italy’s Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini emerged victorious in the women’s doubles tennis event at the Olympics, clinching the gold medal.
They overcame Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider with a score of 2-6 6-1 (10-7).
The Russian duo, Andreeva and Shnaider, who competed as individual neutral athletes, initially dominated by winning the opening set. However, the Italian pair displayed immense resilience and fought back, ultimately securing the silver medal for their opponents. Spain’s Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated the Czech duo Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova to claim the bronze medal.
