Bolshunov at the 5th Olympic Games to the gold medal

Skeleton, cross-country skiing of 15 + 15 kilometers, was dominated by the national team from Russia at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, and Bolshunov won the gold medal.

Alexander Bolshunov won gold with a huge advantage (1:16.09 hours), while his compatriot, Denis Spitsov, was second.

The bronze went to FinnIivo Niskanen with two minutes less time than the winner.

It is Alexander’s first gold and first medal in Beijing, after winning three silver and bronze medals four years ago.

He fell while passing in a group on one bend after 2.5 kilometers, but he managed to stay on the route and in the next 1,300 meters, he gained 4.1 seconds of advantage over his closest companion.
